Photographing Superheroes

I have the best job in the world!  When I was commissioned to photograph this handsome fellow, I was so excited! He is 20 years old, non-verbal, with autism and this is his last year in high school.  The first day I arrived, he wasn’t in the best mood, so we rescheduled. Here you can see what a great kiddo he is!!!  It was a privileged to photograph him and work with his rock-star,  single mom.

Note to Photographers: I like to use continuous light with subjects with special needs. I have two 500 LED panels that work great! Here I used one panel on the left and window light as fill.  I was hoping to only use window light, but it was stormy outside there was very little light, even on a southern facing window. My goal during the session was to keep Mom calm as well as follow her ques. I knew that if she stayed calm, then so would my subject. We worked together to get him to smile.
